If you’re a newbie bass player looking for some cool beginner bass songs to get your feet wet, I think you’re really gonna love today’s video lesson…
[s3mediastream]s3streamingvideo,,1,0,0,freecontent+Video1-5-Must-Know-Beginner-Riffs.mp4,s2t22t834jhxsn,1800,no,sbpsvideoposter.png,,bottom-left,,yes,600,366,yes,bottom,polishedmetal,,,,no,no,no,sbps3private,0[/s3]
In it we’re gonna take a quick “no-nonsense” look at 5 very popular “song riffs” you can probably learn to play in just a few minutes each, but don’t let that fool you…
…Each of these beginner bass songs still sounds good enough to be recognized as “legit bass playing” and moreover, they are all darn good fun to play whether you’re young or old.
Now admittedly I use the words “must know” in the title in a “tongue and cheek” kinda way, because really any list like this is gonna be totally subjective to a person’s own taste…
So surely, everyone watching this the video will have they own list of “must know beginner bass songs” depending on the music you listen to and like.
However as a tutor, I think these 5 beginner bass songs are more than just some cool sounding riffs… More than just some songs that are widely known and generally liked by a wide audience…
…To me these beginner bass songs have a hidden benefit – They each subtly introduce the rookie bassist to several crucial skills and sounds that you want to start getting under your fingers to apply to other songs!
I’m not going to analyze those “hidden skills” here… Instead you just focus on playing them and having fun!
So here’s what to do…
Grab you bass, watch the video lesson and learn the main riffs for the 5 songs… I don’t necessarily do an exact transcription in the song but each take is close enough and accessible enough to get you going…
Directly below the video I’ve provided you with copies of both the PDF TABS and (as an added bonus) I’ve also given you the MP3 drum tracks for each song.
Who’s got your back…
PS. [Blatant self promotion] One of my favorite ways to practice a new song (next to jamming with my band mates) is to use premium quality full length jam tracks like these ones here with the bass removed…It really gives me a chance to sit in the driver’s seat when I’m jamming instead of listening trying to see if I am playing the line the way it was written…
Do you have any on iTunes
